USRC was established in October 2000 within the framework of the South West University, Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. Director of the USRC is Prof. D. Georgieva.
There is a general consensus regarding the main priorities of the USRC - (i) to improve the effectiveness of the stuttering therapy in Bulgaria and the Balkan region countries (through application of evidence-based practice), (ii) to develop new assessment procedures and contemporary instrumental diagnostics through CSL application, and (iii) to establish professional contacts and relations with similar world recognized centers.
